A data warehouse system for management of ecological data relating to tropical lakes and wetlands, comprising a data acquisition unit managed by an administrator, functioned to import the ecological data from a plurality of sub-databases; a database for storing the imported data; a processing module which retrieves and converts the data stored in the database to a predetermined format compatible to data mining tools; and a web service configured to communicate the database to a remote node for data exchange; wherein the data exchange is performed by implementing Darwin Core standard and RAMSAR Classification System for converting a Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) message into a human readable file format;characterized in that the converted file is further used for analysis by a group of users.
