Description
The recycling of CRT waste glass becomes a major problem worldwide. Studies show that disposal of CRTs in the landfill site leads to leach out the lead from the crushed glass and contaminate ground water. Furthermore, as a last manufacturer of CRT in the country, Nippon Electronic glass Malaysia (NEGM) stopped the production of CRT in December 2014. As a result, CRT waste recycling in Malaysia has been stopped. For the foregoing reasons, there is a need for an effective and inexpensive technology to recycle CRT glass, which does not result Environmental Sciences hazard caused by an unacceptable rate of lead leaching. There further exists a need for methods and materials that will produce glass aggregate as a replacement of coarse aggregate for casting sustainable structural grade concrete. Therefore, we have produced CRT waste glass incorporated concrete for structural application. This will not only help to recycle CRT waste but will also save natural mineral aggregate for concrete production.
