Polyurethane (PU) as modifier in bitumen has potential for use in pavement industry. The addition of PU in 60/70 penetration grade bitumen has improved stiffness, durability storage stability, and decreased rutting and fatigue failure which normal asphalt mixes has not able to achieve. In conjunction with Warm Mix Asphalt technology, it reduces the mixing and compacting temperature and less energy consumption required. The addition of PU with WMA chemical additives namely Cecabase RT975 and Rediset LQ 1106 has shown an enhancement in term of physical, chemical and adhesion properties of the bitumen. The inclusion of PU and WMA as modifier has decrease the permanent deformation and an improvement in resistance to fatigue and rutting of the asphalt mixture. Thus, the addition of PU incorporating with WMA additives in bitumen supports the benefits of using this alternative material as modifier in bitumen.
