A night time collision alert system for a vehicle comprising a controlling module, a plurality of light sensitive devices arranged around the vehicle coupled to the controlling module for detecting the light intensity from head light of an incoming vehicle, a distance measuring means coupled to the light sensitive devices for measuring the distance of the vehicle relative to the incoming vehicle and an alerting means coupled to the control module to trigger warning signals to alert the driver of the incoming vehicle for potential danger. The distance measuring means will read the light intensity from the light sensitive device and subsequently convert the light intensity into a data representing the distance of the vehicle relative to the incoming vehicle. The controlling module is able to read the distance measured by the distance measuring means and trigger the alerting means to send warning signals, both audio and visual, to alert the driver of the incoming vehicle when the relative distance between the two vehicles exceeds a predetermined safety threshold.
