Description
Tris-[1-Carboxyl-2-Phenyl-1, 2-Ethylenodithiolenic-S,S] Tungsten is found to be a good photocatalyst for photolysis of water. A new molecule with three dithiolene groups and three benzene groups was synthesised. Both groups are good in absorbing solar and light energy, which is important to cause water splitting. The carboxylic group used to anchor this molecule onto photoelectrode such as titanium dioxidec(TiO2). Yhe hydroxyl (-OH) makes a strong bond between the photocatalyst and photoelectrode. Immobilisation of the catalyst onto a photoelectrode produces more efficient charge distribution and hence,a high rate of reaction.
