A method of preparing activated carbon comprises steps: soak nut shell in a sodium hydroxide solution, to produce an intermediate product; carbonize the intermediate product at an elevated temperature, to produce a carbonized product; and activate the carbonized product using oxidizing solution by repeating the same steps, to produce an activated carbon.
