Green CMAC reduces energy usage by using a radio receiver that is able to sleep for a certain period and thus saves on reception energy. Using cooperative transmission with multiple nodes that cooperate in a transmission process, the radio transmitter power consumption is reduced. Furthermore, cyclic RTS-CTS mechanism is used to make sure the transmission and reception processes occur in one duty cycle only thus reducing energy consumption significantly.
