An auto thermal steam reforming catalyst for hydrogen production from methanol Cu-Zn-Al promoted with various concentrations of vanadia and supported on Alumina is invented. The catalyst are prepared by co-precipitation. The composition of the catalyst is 0%-60% of Cu, 0%-60% of Zn, 0%-60% of V and 60% of Alumina. The catalyst produces hydrogen under favorable conditions of moderately low temperature of between 180??C-280??C and low pressure between 1-2bar. The maximum yield of hydrogen is 94.33% and the CO selectivity is 0.99%
