The invention is a system that been called smart winder. It is a new type of winder that can be used in radiography testing (RT). RT is one of the most used methods in non-destructive testing (NDT). It utilizes Gamma radiation source to check the integrity of industrial components. RT is performed by qualified and certified personnel and it is a very effective method to measure components’ fit-for-purpose. During RT inspection, the operator needs to be at a safe distance depending on the strength of radiation source used. In this situation, the cable length of the winder determines the distance between the operator and the radiation source that illustrated in Figure 1. Most of the time, cable lengths cannot accommodate the safe distance needed to control the operation. Therefore, a signal-based automatic remote-control winder system can overcome this problem by enabling the operation to be controlled at a safe distance thereby increasing the operation safety.
