Open wounds require immediate proper wound care management. Otherwise, its severity may become worse due to infection and it will slow down the healing process. The main aim of this invention is to produce a topical formulation that provides fast protective and healing effects by developing thermo-responsive formulation containing Tiger Milk Mushroom (Lignosus rhinocerus) extracts. Lignosus rhinocerus (medicinal mushroom) sclerotial extracts have shown to exhibit proliferative, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effects and therefore, attributed to the healing properties of the formulation. The formed liquid formulation based on the blend of pluronic 127 and polyethylene gycol 400 (PEG) when applied onto skin, produces a gel at body temperature for fast and easy application onto skin wounds. Therefore, the combination of these extracts and polymer blend produces a formulation suitable for self-application in treating open wounds e.g. abrasion, which not many available in the market.
