A mold for producing a temporary hip spacer having a stem portion, a neck portion, and a head portion comprising a three-part mold forming a rectangular structure having an internal mould cavity defining the shape of the temporary hip spacer, wherein the three-part mold comprises a pair of mirror image portions cooperating to form a first cavity configured such as to conform the shape of the stem, neck, and part of the head portions of the hip spacer, and an opened plunger cavity intercepting the mold cavity at the part of the head portion for receiving molding material; a triangular portion having a second cavity configured such as to conform the shape of the remaining part of the hip spacer; and a plunger disposed within the plunger cavity for pushing molding material to fill the mold cavity, the plunger having a head portion for restricting the motion of the plunger nd a tail portion contoured to conform to part of the head portion of the mold cavity.
