Description

The present invention generally involves to a method to produce a hybrid wound dressing by combining hydrocolloid film dressing with embedded nanofibers into a potential wound dressing application. It would contribute greatly to fragile wounds such as 2nd degree burn wounds and fragile wounds. This also relates to a combination process which included solvent casting method and electrospinning technique to produce nanofiber-embedded hydrocolloid films. The solvent casting involves preparation of polymer mixtures (alginate and pectin) and casted to dry and form a solid thin film before embedded with nanofibers. Subsequently, the electrospinning technique was used by depositing nanofiber loaded with bioactive compounds on surface of hydrocolloid film with aim of electrical forces.
