Fabrication of combat helmet with enhanced properties was developed by incorporating nanocellulose as an additive in the composites. High mechanical strength of the cellulose nanocomposite was achieved due its crystallinity and multi-scale microfibrillated structure and high impact resistance of the composite was attributed to the cellulosic laminated structure of the nanocomposites. The ballistic impact test withstands 9 mm ammunition impact at the velocity range of 330 m/s to 360 m/s. Tensile strength of the cellulose composite was increased 3 times. Reduced modulus (ER) was increased up to 28.25%.
