Description
The invention relates to a targeted chemotherapeutic drug delivery system and method for producing thereof comprising a coating, wherein the coating comprises hyaluronic acid having a molecular weight of at least 100,000 dalton for improved targeted delivery functionality. The targeted chemotherapeutic drug delivery system comprising (a) a chemotherapeutic agent encapsulated in a poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(lactide-coglycolide) (PEG-PLGA) diblock copolymer; and (b) a coating covering the diblock copolymer, wherein the coating comprises hyaluronic acid having a molecular weight of at least 100,000 dalton. The method comprising the steps of (a) encapsulating a chemotherapeutic agent in a PEG-PLGA diblock copolymer; and (b) coating the diblock copolymer with hyaluronic acid having a molecular weight of at least 100,000 dalton.
