Description
The dressing consisting of thermo-sensitive gel of biodegradable polymer which incorporated with Dicer-substrate small interfering RNA (DsiRNA)-loaded gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that exhibits antibacterial and healing properties. DsiRNA is directed to silence the gene expression of prostaglandin transporter (PGT), the gene that promotes blood vessel formation and hence, wound healing process. Meanwhile, AuNPs act as an antibacterial agent, produced via green synthesis using aqueous extract of sclerotium of Lignosus rhinocerotis (tiger milk mushroom) that possesses antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The invention is the first of its kind that combines RNAi-based technology and nanotechnology as one entity to tackle different causes of diabetic wound slow healing.
