Extract of Tamarind seeds were investigated for its possible pharmacological use for wound healing. Induced wound (5mm in diameter) on mouse epidermis were treated topically with tamarind seed extracts prepared using PBS (PE), water (WE), ethanol (EE) or methanol(ME). Depending on the reduction of the size of the wound, extracts prepared using PBS was found equally efficient as the commercially available wound healing agent (Socoseryl). To determine the effectiveness of tamarind seed extract (TSE) prepared in different solvent for wound healing. To compare the wound healing efficiency of different TSE and commercially available medicine. To analyze the phyto-chemical composition of the TSE extract that contributes to would healing.
