The school mainly consists of male students/teenagers with the age in range of 13 to 17 years old and thus, most of them are experiencing hormonal changes symptoms. Due to this, excessive oily sebum is generated by their skin. The sebum interacts with bacteria and resulting in acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is a skin problem caused by blockages of dead skin cells, sebum and bacteria in hair follicles. Therefore, TnC Acne Serum in invented to solve the acne vulgaris problem especially among the male teenagers. TnC stands for ‘Treat and Care’. This serum contains vitamins A, C, E, antioxidant and antibacterial and is used to ‘treat’ acne skin conditions and nourish (‘care’) the skin from oily skin. TnC Acne Serum is extracted from natural ingredients such as aloe vera, tomato and kaffir lime. These extracts are mixed according to specific ratio. Since this serum is an organic compound, it has to be stored in chiller to protect from microbial growth. The serum able to maintain its quality in terms of color, texture and odor for 7 days long in the chiller. Currently, further research works are underway to further improve the shelf-life and quality of the serum. This involves the addition of natural preservative based on palm oil to extend the shelf-life and maintain the quality. The result shows the natural preservative could preserve the serum up to 7 days when it is stored in room temperature. Besides, the safety of serum (in terms of skin allergy) is continuously monitored using self-patch test. As for now, the serum is safe and do not cause any skin allergic. Future plan is to test the effectiveness of the serum onto the acned skin of male teenagers as well as collaboration with university and industry to enhance the quality and packaging of serum.
