The present invention discloses a composition of a biocompatible nanocomposite for use in biomedical applications and a method thereof. The composition comprises a first biopolymer comprising chitosan, a second biopolymer comprising polyhydroxyalkanoate, wherein the polyhydroxyalkanoate is poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoates having a molecular weight of 350,000 Da mixed with a solvent of glacial acetic acid to form a precursor solution, and a two-dimensional antibacterial nanomaterial comprising tungsten disulfide nanoparticles having an average nanoparticle size ranging between 80 nm and 100 nm immobilized in the precursor solution thereof. The chitosan, the polyhydroxyalkanoate and the tungsten disulfide nanoparticles prepared using a solvent casting process exhibit synergistically increased physicochemical properties, antibacterial activities, and scaffold cytocompatibility.
