The invention of this research is on the preparation of Cellulose micro/nanofibrils (CMNF). It is extracted and treated from trees and plants in Malaysia such as merbau, resak, banana and pineapple. This material offers high crystallinity and ultra-fine fibre (10nm - 30 µm), eight times stronger than stainless steel, light and low molecular weight, stiffness compared to Kevlar large specific surface area, low thermal expansion, exhibit characteristic viscosity in colour and transparent properties. A number of potential applications have been identified, such as reinforcement material, food flavour, paints and coating, electronic system, drug delivery and body armour.
