The present invention relates to a system for providing electrical stimulation to a muscle. The system comprises a current output means for delivering electrical charge to a muscle for stimulating muscle contraction, a mechanomyography sensor operatively associated with the current output means for detecting a mechanomyogram signal resulted by the muscle contraction, and a programmable controller connected to the mechanomyography sensor and the current output means for analyzing, based on the mechanomyogram signal, and for sending a command to the current output means, wherein the mechanomyogram signal received by the programmable controller comprises data associated to mechanical properties of the muscle including muscle vibration and muscle contraction.
