Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of health conditions (central obesity, increased blood pressure, blood glucose and triglyceride, and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol) that elevate the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome can also induce bone loss, and subsequently osteoporosis. Tocotrienol could suppress the development of metabolic syndrome and its associated bone loss. Therefore, tocotrienol is a suitable nutraceutical for middle-aged and elderly populations to manage metabolic syndrome and osteoporosis concurrently with lifestyle interventions.
