the present invention provides a method for the production of a standardised aqueous extract of Andrographis paniculata leaves comprising steps of drying the leaves and extracting them with water at a temperature of 60°C. The extract contains andrographolide, neoandrographolide and 14-deoxy-11,12-didehydroandrographolide which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects in in-vivo cancer model. Andrographis paniculata protects against chemotherapeutic-induced cognitive impairment and peripheral neuropathy which can be taken as a supplement prior to commencing chemotherapy treatment. The estimation cost to produce the standardised extract from Andrographis paniculata is lower than other natural compounds due to ease of cultivation, hence, a cost-effective supplement can be produced to protect against chemotherapy adverse effects.
