Description

Fabrication of plate of armour vest with enhanced properties was developed by incorporating nanocellulose as an additive in the composites. High mechanical strength of the cellulose nanocomposite was achieved due its crystallinity and multi-scale microfibrillated structure and high impact resistance of the composite was attributed to the cellulosic laminated structure of the nanocomposites. The ballistic impact test withstands 9 mm ammunition impact at the velocity range of 320 m/s to 440 m/s. Twice impact energy was required to break the developed plate of armour vest. Impact resistance and rigidity have been enhanced. The inclusion of CMNF in the epoxy enhances the impact resistance by double & rigidity of the composite.
