Pork adulteration in food processed products to substitute beef, chicken, and lamb is a common procedure in some countries. Specific detection method has to be developed in order to identify this hiding substances especially pork in food product. Even though there are many conventional detection methods developed nowadays, they usually involve a sophisticated and time consuming procedures. A novel optical biosensor for detecting porcine DNA, utilizing N,N’-bis-5-(hydroxysalicylidene)-phenylenediamine-platinum(II) complex as sensing material is demonstrated. After optimization, the DNA sensing material could determine targeted porcine DNA in the range of 1Ãâ€â€10-15 to 1Ãâ€â€10-9 ?M with a limit of detection of 5.93Ãâ€â€10-17 ?M. This research should be valuable in halal food industry since it offers rapid and detection that can be visualized.
